National Fitness Instructor Certification, Batch 30.

Batch 29 students Madhih & Saifshan warming up for the 5K Run, Aug 2025.

BATCH 30 of the National Fitness Instructor Certificate, Level III, started yesterday. This MQA approved foundation course is aimed at developing the competencies required of a certified fitness instructor. The course is based on the application of exercise science to fitness.
Students are varied. There is generally an even mix of male and female students with ages ranging from school leavers to the graduate professionals in their late thirties and early forties. Working professionals can do this course if they can free up from 4 to 8 pm on working days.

Program involves weekly exercise sessions (cardiovascular & resistance) while learning theory. On the job experience is gained through internship.

Theory & Practical. Students attend six hours of theory and eight hours of internship per week while participating in 3 x 1 hour per week of electives. The course strikes a balance between theory and practice. Students are prepared to hit the ground running. Personal Training is a popular side hustle among young professionals.

Fitness level. In an applied course such as this, the improvement in the student’s fitness level is key. All students are assessed using the MFC Basic Fitness Test on a scale of 1 to 10, at the beginning of the course. We then do a retest at the end of the course, (after 15 weeks). We expect improvements in cardiovascular (5K) and muscular fitness (gym) with corresponding improvement in body composition.

Nutrition is a key ingredient of fitness. Most gym goers want to understand how to eat healthy. We deal with this this issue under the unit on nutrition.

Instructional skills are taught in controlled settings before opportunities are given to advanced students to instruct members.

NEXT BATCH is scheduled from 4 April to 23 July next year. Registration is open. You can register at this link.
