Maldives Aquathlon Championship 2025
National Aquathlon 2025, Kaafu Atoll Maafushi
Sat 1 Nov 2025, Maafushi. Swim Maldives staged The National Aquathlon Championships 2025 this morning in Maafushi tourist island, only 30 minutes out from the capital city of Male’.

Over a hundred athletes including the national top-ranking swimmers and runners created history with outstanding performances. Famous football club Maziya went on to win the Elite Relay category with champion swimmer Ibrahim Sajid & champion runner Hussain Riza.
The Team combination of long-distance swim champion Yaseen Mohamed Yoosuf and sprinter Mohamed Akmal Hoodh took second place. Third place was secured Super-sonic athletes, a contingent of the famous Azim brothers.

Elite Women Individual Champion Aishath Shaffa, Fitness Instructor at TfG
Ismail Mul-ham Azim secured the top spot in the Elite Individual category held the day before on Friday. Despite the tender age of only 13 years, he took top spot amongst older athletes.
Aishath Shaffa, a Fitness Instructor from TfG secured the Elite Individual Event. Women participation is picking up and crossed 10%.
The event attracted a wide range of athletes including recreational athletes. Mohamed Ismath, an IT professional who is an avid runner sought the services of a swimming coach to prime his skills.

All races were open for individual and teams. Athletes are required to complete a 1km swim, followed immediately by a 5K Run in Maafushi’s bright early morning sun. A swimmer can team up with a runner for the relay.
Two other categories, the Sprint and the Discover event was popular with youth participation.
Swim Maldives is an NGO headed by Hussain Shameem, an avid fitness enthusiast who has run marathons and many Iron Man events in the region. The organization is dedicated to help every Maldivian swim!
