The 5K Run, Batch 30
Batch 30, 5K Fitness Run, 13 Nov 2025.
Students of the National Certificate III Fitness Instructor Course, Batch 30, completed their 5K Fitness Run today at the Hulhumale Athletics Track.
Fitness Conditioning
Students register their 5K Walk time at entry in week 1 of this 15-week, one semester course. They then complete a 5K Run in the 10th week to assess their cardiovascular fitness, which in turn goes into their Fitness Profile created over the course. Students not only study. They follow a fitness conditioning program aimed at improving their overall fitness. This is a course requirement.
As part of their internship, students must promote awareness of the importance of cardiovascular fitness amongst gym members. They then organize a similar 5K Fitness Run for the club community in week 14 of the course, on 11 December 2025. The internship runs parallel with theory classes.
The Academy assigns a cardiovascular fitness score based on run time as High, Average or Low fitness level.
Cardiovascular Fitness Score
High fitness level is a 5K time below 25 minutes. They score an A plus and are considered competitive. Those who completed the run below 30 minutes are given an A in this High fitness category.
Average fitness level is a run below 35 minutes. They score B plus while those who ran below 40 minutes score a B in the Average category.
Students completing the run below 45 minutes score in the Low fitness category with a C plus. Students who complete the run over this cut-off time are labelled as having completed a 5K.
