Ramazan 2026 Fat Percentage

Ramazan Body Fat Percentage Assessment 19 Feb - 19 Mar 2026

We assessed Body Fat Percentage of 39 volunteers at the beginning of this Ramazan. (1447 AH). We used the Omron HBF-306C Fat Loss Monitor that use bioelectrical impedance to assess overall body fat percentage. Fat percentages were taken under fasting condition with assessments conducted between 3.00 and 6.00 pm weekdays during Ramazan. 90% of volunteers were men and 10% were women. They ranged from age 20 to 60 years. Following is a breakdown of what we found for the four age groups.

Preliminary observations:

  • We start getting fat in our 30s (Graph 1)

  • 3 out of 4 people are classified fat in this year's sample (Graph 2).

We start getting fat in our 30s.

Despite the small sample size, the raw data tells an interesting story. While most are less fat in their 20s, we start getting fat in our 30s. We grouped the number of volunteers into 4 age categories and counted the number in each age group registering Normal, High or V. High. We considered High & V. High as fat.

As you can see in the above Graph 1., more of the younger 20-29-year, age group registered a lower fat percentage overall than the older age group. The older 30–39-year age group were fatter than the younger group. By Middle Age, 40–49-year, most have a high fat percentage. But strangely the old, 50–59-year age group seems to have mastered the art of fitness in this sample. They were less fat.

3 out of 4 were classified “fat”

The second observation we made was by finding out which proportion of the whole cohort of 35 men and 4 women were fat. See Graph 2 where we have calculated the percentage of members who registered a Normal, High and V. High fat percentage.

Only a quarter of the group registered Normal. The rest three quarters registered High or V. High fat percentage.

Further insights

We are also monitoring the volunteers’ fat percentage after Ramazan. Only a few members of the cohort have returned to reassess their fat%. A large number of the cohort are fasting through this week. We are awaiting the post-Ramazan fat% to seek more insights as part of our evidenced based practice program.

A few members have already registered the post-Ramazan fat percentage. While some members who worked out regularly had lost up to 2-3% of body fat during Ramazan, some others had maintained their muscle mass.
